The Meridian Deck
Composite deck with stepping stones & garden path
The Story
The Meridian homeowners had a dated wooden deck and a disconnected backyard. We replaced the deck with modern composite decking and added a stepping-stone path that winds through new landscape beds, connecting the deck to a hidden garden seating area.
The Challenge
The old deck's footings were undersized and several were cracked. The replacement needed to meet current code while maintaining the same attachment points to the house.
Our Solution
We poured new helical pier footings to code, used the existing ledger board location, and upgraded to composite decking with hidden fasteners. The result is a maintenance-free deck with a 25-year warranty.

From ground to glory.
Site Assessment
A worn pressure-treated deck with loose boards and rusting nails. The backyard beyond was just grass with no connection to the deck.
Demolition & Footings
Old deck demolished and removed. New helical pier footings installed to current code depth. Ledger board inspected and prepared for the new frame.
Framing
Pressure-treated joists, beams, and rim boards installed with joist hangers. The frame cantilevered slightly for a floating appearance from the yard.
Composite Decking
Composite deck boards installed with hidden clip fasteners for a screw-free surface. Picture-frame border in a contrasting shade for a finished edge.
Stepping Stones & Path
Natural flagstone stepping stones set in gravel, winding from the deck steps through new landscape beds to a hidden seating nook.
Landscaping & Lighting
Ornamental grasses, hostas, and seasonal perennials planted along the path. Low-voltage path lights and deck riser lights installed.
Final Reveal
Composite deck gleaming, stepping stones glowing with path lights, garden beds blooming. The Meridian Deck connects house to garden beautifully.
