The Lakewood Pavilion
Covered pavilion with full kitchen & entertainment bar
The Story
The Lakewood family wanted year-round outdoor entertaining — rain or shine. We built a fully covered pavilion with a tongue-and-groove cedar ceiling, outdoor kitchen, bar seating, and a mounted TV. It's become the neighborhood gathering spot.
The Challenge
The pavilion needed to support a heavy cedar ceiling, ceiling fan, TV mount, and pendant lights while maintaining open sightlines to the backyard. Standard post-and-beam wouldn't achieve the clean look they wanted.
Our Solution
We used engineered laminated beams with hidden steel connectors, allowing wider spans between posts. The result is an open, airy structure that feels light despite supporting significant overhead weight.

Construction Timeline
From ground to glory.
Site Assessment
An open backyard with a concrete pad from a previous structure. The existing pad was evaluated for reuse as the pavilion foundation.
Foundation & Footings
Poured concrete footings for the pavilion posts, plus utility trenching for gas, water, and electrical. The existing pad was extended with matching concrete.
Post & Beam Structure
Pressure-treated posts set in steel post bases. Engineered laminated beams installed with hidden steel connectors for the wide-span roof structure.
Roof & Ceiling
Standing-seam metal roof installed with proper pitch for drainage. Tongue-and-groove cedar ceiling planks stained and sealed underneath.
Kitchen Build-Out
Kitchen island framed and veneered inside the pavilion. Granite countertop, built-in grill, sink, and undercounter refrigerator installed.
Electrical & Finishing
Pendant lights, ceiling fan, weatherproof TV mount, and bar-height outlets installed. Final stain touch-ups on all cedar surfaces.
Final Reveal
Cedar ceiling glowing warm, TV on, kitchen ready for a crowd. The Lakewood Pavilion turns every evening into an event.
