Fire pit pergola with sunset views & lounge seating

The Story

The Pinecrest homeowners wanted a dedicated fire pit area separate from their pool zone — a place to unwind at sunset with a glass of wine. We designed a cedar pergola with a natural gas fire pit, built-in stone bench, and lounge seating.

The Challenge

The fire pit needed to be close enough to the house for convenience but far enough to feel like an escape. Running a gas line 60 feet across the yard without disturbing the existing landscape was the main hurdle.

Our Solution

We directional-bored the gas line beneath the existing lawn, leaving zero surface damage. The pergola was positioned at the yard's highest point for unobstructed sunset views.

From ground to glory.

Site Assessment

A grassy area at the back of the yard with great sunset views but no structure. The homeowners wanted a cozy retreat away from the main patio.

Gas Line & Footings

Directional bore for the natural gas line from the house to the fire pit location. Concrete footings poured for the four pergola posts.

Pergola Framing

Cedar posts set and braced, beams and rafters installed. The open-slat design provides filtered shade while maintaining the sunset view.

Fire Pit Construction

Circular stone fire pit built with a stainless steel gas burner ring. Surrounded by a matching stone bench with comfortable seating height.

Paver Patio & Seating

Paver patio laid beneath the pergola, connecting to the house via a stepping-stone path. Adirondack chairs and cushioned seating arranged around the fire pit.
